Welcome to Leo Season

If you didn't guess, I'm a Leo... So of course I'm biased. And, I love Leo season!

The themes for this fire sign are COURAGE, CREATIVITY, LEADERSHIP AND FIERCE JOY! This is a glorious time of year that, in the northern hemisphere, embodies the truest essence of Summer. Relax deeply into this month through pride of a job well done, and be sure to take some time off to play :)

The new moon window is still open
Last Thursday was the new moon in Leo, and there's still time to squeeze in a little intention-setting. This is a potent time to dream into your next big vision, yet dig into the dirt for the most pressing steps you need to take. I like to use the new moon not just to "set intentions", but to actually get exquisitely specific...

"What am I intending to create THIS moon cycle?"

As in, between now and the full moon (2 weeks from now), or between now and the next new moon (4 weeks from now)?

This is a useful formula for simplifying and narrowing your focus to what matters most, in the N O W.

Harness the power of the Lion's Gate on 8-8

Every year on August 8th, we have a moment of cosmological alignment that's well worth harnessing. The lion's gate opens every year on August 8th when the sun in Leo, the star Sirius, Orion's belt, and the Earth all align in the sky. Sirius is one of our closest star neighbors and the brightest in our night sky.

This glorious alignment is magnified further by the numerology of 8, linked to many mystical symbols, including the lemniscate/infinity sign, and the Strength archetype in Tarot. On the iconic Rider-Waite card, Strength is a woman calmly standing over a powerful lion, gently holding it's immense jaws open, with a floating infinity symbol above her head like a crown. You might say she is the ultimate embodiment of the Lion's Gate portal.

To make the most of this potent moment, surface the qualities of Leo in your own life. Where can you act with more courage, generosity, healthy pride, leadership and creativity? How can you cultivate more play and joy on a daily basis, even in small ways?

It's a great day to ritualize. Set up an altar, do some journaling, write some prayers and set them on fire to drift into ether...

The moon will be full on August 11th
The full moon is in Aquarius this month, an air sign who's key affirmation is "I know."

Use the brilliance of this summer full moon to settle your nervous system and reflect on what you know to be true of your life circumstances.

If you experience overwhelm, try simply stating to yourself all that is good and true in your life in that moment. Don't bother trying to feel gratitude— rather simply state what is from a neutral observer stance. Ex: I have food in the fridge, my loving children are safe, my body is in good health...

The Great Turning

A Leo pep talk:

[Nuzzle nuzzle] Hey babe. I see you. I see ALLLLLLL the hard, good work you're doing.

We— your pride— want to acknowledge the progress you've made thus far. I know it's challenging. Dang, it can be really challenging these days. But whether you're seeking a meal on the African savanna or launching a new creative project or need to have a hard conversation, as Glennon Doyle says, "we can do hard things." We're made for it, built for it, HERE for it!

So roar. Nap. Roll in the dirt. Scrap around with your sister if you need to. Then, let's play! Because this whole thing is made for us. For our evolution. For our personal growth. For our awakening.
